Case: 150 m2 corrugated iron roof in Copenhagen, before and after

Tobias' roof is on a property in the middle of Copenhagen. The roofing felt was still intact, but the surface was worn gray, and there was moss and lichen in the areas around the joints. This is what a flat roof looks like after a few years: it's not leaking yet, but the joints are where it starts.

Sealing instead of replacement

Instead of tearing the roof off, Tobias chose to have it cleaned and sealed with Luna Roof roofing membrane. It is applied by roller directly on top of the existing roofing felt in one layer and lays down as one continuous surface, without joints and without nails or welding.

A 150 m² roof corresponds to 12 buckets, when a 20 kg bucket covers up to 13.3 m². The before pictures are from June 29th and 30th, the after pictures were taken on July 4th.

The result

The surface is now uniform and closed all the way, also across joints and transitions. The membrane is elastic, so it follows when the materials work in heat and cold, and it is UV-resistant, so it does not become brittle from being in the sun.
